Gardening Basic Tips- Interaction With Nature

Hi everyone, today I'm writing this blog because recently some of my plants died.  Always make sure that you take good care of plants. When I was not home, I couldn't water them for few days. Guldaudi, Gudail, sarson, Rai, died. Later on, because of the heavy rain full pot of chilli plant died and 2 Tulsi plants. I lost a few varieties. So, let me tell you, how we can save them. What should I have done to protect them?

Basic rules: Do's & Dont's

Do not Over water and do not under water your plants. Water regularly as per requirement. When the top layer of soil looks dry then water. Always choose good/right soil. Select correct containers. Within 15-20 days shallow dig your pots-soil.(turn/flip the soil). Don't change places daily or frequently. Fix the spot, changing the place is bad. For best result, fertilize in 15-30 days as per requirement. Sunlight required for 2-3 and/or 5-6 hours daily. If your house is supplied by hard water, either you can use R.O./filtered water. Or else you can use hard water however; you need to use medicine. Don't let Ant in your pots. Rather you should use Neem oil or medicines. You can use home-made anti pesticide also. Take out all infected/dead or dry leaves or stems on a regular basis. Whenever growing plants from cutting, at-least try 3-4 cuttings at the same time.  Whenever doing seedling, make sure you are growing the best seed (as per your knowledge or availability).  The better seeds give better results. Last but not the least. Use gloves. Buy or DIY tools for gardening. And give good care. Always think about creative gardening and decorative pots and plants.

Plants always cherish you.

Believe it or not, we never realize that we have been seeing nature, always around us. Plants and/or flowers always made us feel special. For example, on every festive day we need flowers to decorate. Holy rituals are incomplete without flowers/leaves. Navratri (khetri n decoration), Holi (decoration and Bhang) Diwali (pooja/decoration/rangoli) etc. Like-wise, in other religions too. Bride and Groom wedding is incomplete without Jaimala. If we buy any new vehicle, we tend to go to the temple (for worship or good luck/charm. Flowers can be used, I think, everywhere. If you are sad, they bring a smile, or at least divert your mind with its beauty. If you are happy, they multiply your happiness. flowers are used for any occasion, corporate/event/family etc. Flowers and plants are the best option for gifting. If you are confused what to gift? Very common answer is Flower/Flowers. Whenever you have any difficulty to find a gift for some, gift a small succulent plant like Aloe Vera.(or any other plant, which is easy to take care)

There are many women in families, who wear Gajra. The fragrance calms your mind and soothes your thoughts. I had a Jasmine plant in my balcony (👇White flower plant). Which bloomed only once. On the first day of blooming, it showered the beautiful (jasmine fragrance) fragrance. I was very happy, & felt like visiting the balcony again and again. it lasted up to 2-3 days and then its fragrance faded off.  Later on, my plant died. Soon, I will be growing Jasmine again. I actually propagated from cutting, which couldn't survive for long. So, guys there are many things you need to know if you want to grow plants, if you are interested in gardening or planting a few. Most of the families/homes must have Tulsi Plant, Money Plant, Aloe-Vera and Portulaca plant/Moss rose (👇Pink Flower Plant).

I grew Tulsi/Holy Basil seeds during the lockdown. waited for 25-30 days. It didn't work. Then again, I grew it with seeds. This time I covered the pot with a transparent lid. So that soil can hold the moisture & guess what? Boom. It worked, yippee. I kept it covered for 7-8 days. I grew a full box of it (grew it in a disposable food box). I gave some plants to a few people, as I was excited and to grow them. LOL. Later on, few plants died because of the sunlight and pigeon.

Benefits:

1- It's a healthy habit to grow plants. Because you are saving and cleaning the environment.

2- It gives you fresh air, which calms your mood swings. I think it's a cheapest source of producing fresh H2O

3- No synthetic, only fresh fruits/veggies and leaves.

Leaves can be used for tea, pakode and and sabzi (for gravy n dry).  Its used for salad, & leaves also used for serving the food. (Banana Leaves)

4- Fresh vegetables enhance the food aroma and taste.

5- To me it gives courage, challenge and a reason to live

6- We are blessed because apart from these benefits, plants are very good support in medical history.

7-Its world widely known that in Ramayana, Lord Hanuman brought "Sanjivani booti" for Laxman (Lord Ram’s younger brother,he was laid down unconscious in the war by the Meghnad. The war was against Lanka).

8-In our daily routine we can add some green plants in our kitchen/food.

Like we can use lemongrass for tea. We can use fresh Ajwain leaves (Also known as Ajowen or Bishop’s Weed), can use many other plants.

9-Plants multiply your beauty and take good care of it, you can use aloe Vera, Potato, Tomato, banana and many more fruits or vegetables for facial/ skin treatment. Check your skin type, before using anything on your skin. Use it as per your skin types.

10- When you start growing plants, it will help to reduce your garbage. You can store kitchen waste for compost. Do not store non veg or stale food. Only vegetable peels. Do not use smelly peels like onion or garlic.

There are many mosquito repellent plants like Marigold, Lemongrass etc. There are many benefits, looks like I need to make a separate blog for that. Please let me know in comment section if I missed on any benefit. I will add in my next blog.

Stay tuned for more updates. Stay Safe and stay Happy Always.
